This half-day field trip is part of the SC4.1 short course "Geology 101: An introduction for non-geologists" and is specifically designed for participants without a geological background. The excursion offers an accessible and engaging introduction to how geologists study the Earth in the field. Participants should bring their own lunch and public transport ticket, no additional costs are involved. Early Career Scientist (ECS) Networking Lunch for the Natural Hazards Division (NH): Grab your food and drink and join an informal, interactive lunch to meet colleagues, exchange ideas, and get inspired. Building on the discussions from the ECS Engagement Short Course and the splinter meeting earlier in the day, this lunch offers a relaxed space to continue conversations, share insights, and strengthen connections within the community.

A networking session for Early Career Scientists (ECS) within the Energy, Resources and the Environment (ERE) division, offering a relaxed setting to connect with peers, exchange research ideas, and build interdisciplinary collaborations. The geosciences are supported by large quantities of software, from modelling through to operational field research. That software, in turn, is often supported by research software engineers and research technical professionals. If you are an RSE, RSE-adjacent, or just interested in learning more about this role then grab a drink at the end of the day and come along to meet your colleagues and network after a day at the conference.
